Shayla Sanders

Shayla Sanders is a healthcare professional and licensed nurse practitioner practicing in Missouri and Iowa. She has 20 years of experience in diverse settings in rural healthcare and specializing in rheumatology for the past 10 years. She is the Vice President and Director of the APP Division for Premier Specialty Network, which is a group of providers that provide specialty services to underserved areas throughout the US. Shayla received her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, going on to become board certified with the American Nursing Credentialing Center. Once board certified, she chose to specialize in Rheumatology and completed a one year rotation with Rheumatologist Dr. Robert Jackson as well as completing the Advanced Rheumatology Courses through the American College of Rheumatology. Since her initial experience in Rheumatology, Shayla has effectively established and opened her own independent rheumatology clinics throughout Missouri and Iowa which have benefited the communities she serves. In order to provide continued access to Rheumatology services in underserved areas throughout the US, she assists with training other advanced practice providers and helping them set up clinics in remote areas. She is an active member of the Rheumatology Advanced Practice Providers, Allied Health American College of Rheumatology and American Women in Rheumatology. She is a national well-renowned speaker for the Industry, providing education for rheumatic disease states and biological therapies. She is co- author for the article “Pegloticase in Uncontrolled Gout: The Infusion Nurse Perspective” which was published in the Journal of Infusion Nursing. Shayla states she loves being able to help others and hopes the work she does can make a difference in the lives of her patients.
