Originally from Leon, Iowa Dr. Mahan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of Cincinnati in 2006. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University in 2014, followed by her residency at Broadlawns Medical Center Family Medicine Residency graduating June 2017.
Dr. Mahan has spent time at WCHCS participating in the Student Provider Rotation offered in conjunction with Des Moines University working directly with Dr. Wells, and previously employed as a Laboratory Technologist.
Dr. Mahan has experience caring for patients at the Broadlawns Medical Center Walk-in Clinic. During her residency, she served as the Chief Resident at Broadlawns Medical Center.
Dr. Mahan’s clinical interests include women’s health, specifically obstetrics and contraception management, pediatrics, preventative health, dermatologic procedures, inpatient medicine, caring for the underserved and expanding healthcare to Amish Communities.
Dr. Mahan has received numerous awards and recognitions including Chief Resident at Broadlawns Medical center, Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dean’s Above and Beyond Award, Dean’s Cultural Competence endorsement; Gold Humanism Honor Society Inductee; Rural Medicine Education Pathway Scholar and University of Cincinnati, Golden Key National Honour Society Inductee.
