(Corydon, January 20, 2014) The Wayne County Hospital Auxiliary held its annual Winter Luncheon Monday, January 20th at the Corydon United Methodist Church with approximately 43 members in attendance. President Tracy Thomas opened the meeting with the Auxiliary prayer.
Bonita Wells, Auxiliary Gift Shop Manager, presented a $10,000 check to the Wayne County Hospital Plant Operations Department. The funds were presented to Plant Operations Department in gratitude for their work in building the gift shop in 2010 and the continual support they provide the Auxiliary. “This is a very talented group of men who do so much for us every day. We are grateful for the beautiful gift shop they built for us; moving walls, climbing through false ceilings, all to make our space perfect,” commented Bonita Wells.
Lisa Skinner, CMA was the guest speaker and spoke on her new position as a Health Coach. She explained the training she received and what this role will do for patients.
She will be monitoring patient records and working with the providers to assist patients in managing their illness more easily. This includes people with diabetes, hyper-tension (high blood pressure), or heart disease.Wayne County Hospital CEO, Daren Relph, gave an overview of the many activities going on at the hospital and commented on the low volumes that have been the trend across the Mercy Health Network.
The new auxiliary officers were inducted by Tracy Thomas and include: President, Geri Gardner; Vice President, Karen Mattly; Secretary, Georgia Runyon and Treasurer, Marlyn Montgomery. This group will serve a two year term. Each officer was presented a flower representative of the position. Geri Gardner presented a gift to outgoing president, Tracy Thomas in appreciation and recognition of her service to the auxiliary.
WCH Auxiliary meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 1:30pm in the Private Dining Room of the Wayne County Hospital. Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to attend.
